2014 was an amazing year!

As I went back through all of the sessions from this year, I caught myself smiling…A LOT!

This was the first year that I took on family sessions again. I shot a few family sessions here and there when I first started out but I just wasn’t nailing it like I wanted to. So I stopped offering them all together. It was so hard turning away so many requests but it just wasn’t the right time for me.

After having Mason and starting my own little family, I realized something.

I’m not a family photographer.

Okay, let me explain.

I am not the sit and look at the camera and smile type of family photographer.

I actually really struggle with that type of shot. Yes, I do at least one of these for every session because I think they are important, but for the most part my approach to family photos is…

Real is realistic.

Once I realized this, my heart just fell into place.

I found amazing families that wanted that style of photos and was all just so wonderful from there.

This year was full of family sessions, mommy and me sessions and a lot of love.

I also shot 11 weddings all over the place.

Edmonton, Banff, Canmore, Emerald Lake, Medicine Hat, Fox Creek…and I think that is it.

I limited my weddings last year because I was unsure of the balance between being a new Mom and work. It was a tough year with arranging child care, lining up second shooters and all the travel.

But thanks to amazing family and friends it all worked out and it was a pretty amazing year.

2015 is shaping up to look pretty great so far.

I have 17 beautiful weddings. I said 10 was my goal and limit for the year but hey…I just am no good at saying no to beautiful things.

Medicine Hat, Edmonton, and Mexico.

I am so looking forward to going to “work” and then resting my head on my pillow at the end of the day. Last years travel was amazing, but also taxing. There is nothing like your own bath tub and bed at the end of a long day.

I cannot wait to get this year going, but until then, take a look at how amazing last year was.
