Edmonton Blossom Family Photos | Edmonton Family Photographer|

I have officially decided that I have a love/hate relationship with the blossom season here in Edmonton.Last year I ventured out to Vancouver to shoot and engagement session during the blossoms there, which ended up winning me awards and some fun stuff for the couple too. Since then I have been getting a ton of emails asking to book specifically for these blossoms. Well the problem is, mother nature can be a big fat B sometimes and work against us. I drove around for days checking out the progress of these beautiful trees. I knew I had about a week for them to last, and I had 12 sessions I needed to get in that time frame. So when I finally saw them make a bit of an appearance I sent out my emails and lined everyone’s session up for that week. I even lucked out and everybody’s availability all worked together with no scheduling conflicts.

I was stoked!

And then I remembered where I live now. Edmonton is highly populated with photographers, not to mention the locations where the clusters of blossom trees are is very well known. With 12 sessions lined up I knew that I did not want to “fight” for spots or wait and chance missing the magical golden hour. I just didn’t want the stress of any of it, for me or my clients. So I threw my toddler in the car one day and went driving down streets and checking out random trees. Who would have known there was a great group of them literally 4 minutes from my house!? You can imagine my excitement when I found this. It was perfect. Where the light would fall, the location, and that nobody else would know about it. I was so excited.

So I met up with Jaquie and her family Friday night at this magical blossom location. The sun was setting just perfectly behind the trees. It was meant to be. Did I mention that they drove all the way up here from Red Deer to see me? Talk about pressure hahah just kidding , but I definitely wanted it all to work out like we had planned. Jaquie booked me months and months ago in anticipation for these beautiful trees. And they did not disappoint. Which brings me to my hate part of the relationship.

THEY WERE COMPLETELY GONE BY SUNDAY MORNING!

WHAT!!????

They normally last at least a week if not a little more. I was shocked, like literally blown away.

Anyway…

So I am counting my lucky stars that they were absolutely perfect for this stunning family. Seriously, just take a look a them and tell me you don’t have a permanent smile on your face as you scroll through. Jaquie and I have talked for years about working together. I guess we just needed to wait for the right time, and that was this night. It was so beautiful. We had so much fun together, even Brad said so hahah. When a Dad compliments you and tells you he had a good time, it calls for a big fat happy dance. We all know how much Dad’s love having family photos done!

But in all seriousness, theses trees may not have lasted. I may have had to reschedule 11 other sessions but I am so incredibly lucky we had this night together.

Thank you for coming all the way to see me and spending the night climbing in and out of branches. Oh and Brad, thanks for riding your bike over. It looks great on you!!

Hi there! Your photos with the apple blossoms are absolutely gorgeous!
I’ve been doing some research online to try and figure out where I can go for my engagement photos. I already have my photographer booked, but would you be willing to share this location with me please?

    Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Jolene

    Hi Nicole,

My fiance and I live in Edmonton. We will be getting married in BC and our photographer is also in BC. Our original plan for our engagement shoot was BC cherry blossoms. Unfortunately, due to current circumstances, we will no longer be traveling to BC during their cherry blossoms season. We are considering asking my cousin, who is a photographer, to do a mini engagement shoot here in Edmonton. Are you willing to share the specific location of where you shot these cherry blossom photos?
