Melissa and Keith through me for a loop to say the least. July 9,2013 I received a desperate email from Melissa. It was even signed “Extremely Desperate Bride.” Melissa had planned on having her talented sister, Amanda, shoot her wedding. Well Amanda is also the MOH so they figured maaaayyyybe it just wasn’t the best idea. So they popped me an email and being on maternity leave, I just happened to have that date open. Melissa sold me on her wedding within about two sentences of her message.
Vera Wang.
Shabby Chic.
SOLD
So we talked almost every day until her wedding. All the details. The planning. It was all so fast and so exciting.
Now I forgot to mention that Melissa, and Amanda, are talented photographers themselves. So to get asked to shoot this wedding was a huge honor. Shooting photographers can be so stressful and nerve racking but also a great task. They know what to look for and how to plan for the day. Melissa put together a room in her parents house for her to get ready in. It was staged with shabby chic decor and a beautiful green couch. It was perfect. Her ceremony was also in her parents beautiful backyard in front of the most stunning backdrop, vintage doors. And then her reception was just to die for. Melissa dreamed of having her reception in a big white tent. Well when that wasn’t an option she made it somewhat happen. Melissa covered the entire reception hall with white decor to make it look like a tent. It was beautiful.
This whole day was just stunning. It was quick…one of the quickest I’ve shot actually but absolutely beautiful.
Melissa hired me to cover her day but one thing she absolutely wanted was some glowy sunset pictures. I said to her earlier that week, “Melissa, what if we have no sunset?” and her response was, ” Nicole, shhhhh why are you saying negative things lol!” It was too cute. 8:00pm arrives that night and we had the most beautiful sunset. I honestly could not have asked for better light. The minute Melissa stood in front of my camera for me to test light, I knew I did it. I accomplished what she wanted. She was glowing. It was perfect.
Thank you Melissa for having me there for your day. It was so great to meet you and Keith, and of course Amanda too! I am so glad that we could make it all work together.
Much love, and best wishes.
Nicole
Oh and big thanks to me second shooter, Shauna Roughly from Roughly Originals for helping me out this day. XO
