I have this crazy thing about me where I am a very good judge of character the minute I meet people. This was exactly the case when Ben and Lindsey walked into my house to chat about their Fall Edmonton Wedding.
Lindsey is this well put together and soft spoken girl. Confident in what she wants and has it all together. She talked very calm and smooth about everything.
Ben told the story of their proposal and his energy and the light in his eye said it all.
These two were adorable. Madly in love and perfect for each other. I was so happy they found me (thank you Brendon and Alecia for the referral)
So their big day was coming up. A fall wedding in Edmonton, to me, is always a little risky. September is really hit or miss for weather, yet again this whole summer was full or surprises with the weather. When they told me their big day was September 24th I was stoked though. It is almost a guaranteed date to have beautiful fall colors, just want Lindsey pictured.
I met with the girls in the morning as they calmly and quietly got ready. Lindsey chose a classic black and white theme with her girls dressed to the nines in stunning black lace dresses. When I think of Ben and Lindsey, I think classic and timeless. Even their engagement photos set the tone for that. Everything was coming together just as they had pictured.
They knew they wanted the pretty fall colors for their photos but they also wanted to make sure it fit with their wedding and matched their personalities. I knew that Fort Edmonton Park was just the place for them. Its timeless and again classic. I immediately thought of the popular white picket fence that they have there and knew Lindsey would love it. Her face lit up the minute she saw it. The contrast of the black dresses and suits against the fence and pops of fall colors was gorgeous. Not to mention her all white bouquet pulling it all together. It honestly was such a great day. It was windy as heck to begin with but really died down for the photos. There were lots of laughs shared, especially over “pocket guy”.
And it has to be said that their speeches were some of the best we have heard. I caught myself laughing harder than I should for a couple I only met a year ago but man you could just feel the love and history in the room. And of course then there was Ben making an attempt to speak in public which ended up with a fire being put out in a jug of water. I forgot I was a photographer at that moment and just sat staring at his speech burning haha.
Anyway, I adore you two. I am so glad our paths crossed and that you chose us to capture your memories. I can’t wait to hear all about your trip and please please stay in touch)
Much love
Nicole and Shawn
