Since becoming a Mom myself, everything is just “different”. You hear a kid cry and instead of getting annoyed, you feel sympathetic and just want that Mom to know you understand. You look at kids and just adore their natural personality. You love how they laugh and the crazy things that come out of their mouth. I absolutely adore kids now. Not that I didn’t before but when it came to photography families and children I honestly had no idea what I was doing, nor did I know what a Mom could possibly want out of the photos. Now I know. I know that if I had photos done of Mason I would want him being himself. No silly poses, not dressed up all weird, but being exactly who is he is at that stage in his life. Being a Mom has completely changed so many things for me.
So this year I wanted to do something special for Mom’s out there. I hosted my very first Mommy & Me mini sessions in Medicine Hat. I was a bit nervous, as I didn’t know what to expect. I book solid in a number of hours and was completely shocked by it. I had a ton of fun meeting these beautiful Mom’s and their kids. I am so glad I decided to do this and will definitely be doing it next year!
Here is a few from all of the session I did that a few weekends ago! Thank you to all the Mamas who came out to see me!
Kaleigh and her daughter were the sweetest things ever. You could just tell that they had a bond like no other. This little one is 4 going on 30. I loved listening to her tell stories and explore the world.
This is one of my favorite photos ever taken! When Joey booked me to take pictures of her with her little girls, I was blown away. Joey is a FABULOUS photographer herself in Medicine Hat. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. But as soon as I saw Nena and Svea I all the butterflies went away. They are stunning and love their Mama. And holy….check out the gorgeous set of locks they both have. I was so happy Janine booked me for this session. She is always the Mom taking pictures and is never in them. We had a bit of a melt down over the iphone but managed to get some great shots right before the rain poured downOh Ashley…I am sure she planned a completely different type of session. I met her at the location as it was completely pouring. I’m talking down pour. It was awful. But I was crossing my fingers and toes that it was going to come and go…and that it did. But little Mr. man had a different plan in mind than having his pictures taken. He really wanted to nap…so he did. I am actually so glad he did. We got the sweetest most real photos ever. I adore this sessionOh man…this family was absolutely hilarious. These girls were at such great ages, so fun and just full of life. I should have honestly taken notes as they talked, they were hilarious. And talk about style…this is the way you do photos!Oh Amber, Link and Koa….! I shot Amber when Link was 2 and Koa was in her belly so to see how much they have grown and changed was so great. Koa was getting a bit fussy and we both knew what he needed. When Amber asked me to take pictures while she nursed him, I felt honored. I absolutely love the emotion of nursing a baby, and to have that documented forever is just so special. Thank you Amber for trusting me enough to capture that for you. Oh and when your client brings a tent like this to your session…they are definitely in the “favorite clients book!”I was SO happy when Savanna booked this session. I cuddled Lane last year in July and he has grown and changed so much so I was excited when I got to have cuddles again. And man did he ever give me lots. He is such a doll and great with the camera. It’s often hard to get little ones to look even in the direction of the camera, not with this little guy!Oh Cheryl, you are just so adorable. And little Mr. Daniel is so handsome. I seriously could have sat there and hugged him all day, or made dinosaur sounds too.
[…] Let’s take it outside (in May of June) run around in the grass, rub noses, have tickle fights and make some memories. Check out some of these sessions HERE […]
