A winter elopement at The Prairie Creek Inn…YES PLEASE!

This day was absolutely unbelievable. Actually it literally was. There were so many elements that were just so unreal and so incredibly refreshing.

When Jillian first contacted me about their big day I was immediately excited. For one, I rarely shoot in the winter so any opportunity to get out and capture something amazing, I jump on it. And two, ELOPEMENT. Yay! SO exciting. I love things that are personal and just so intimate. It really is what it’s all about after all.

As we got chatting I knew I just knew we were a perfect fit. After all she did keep saying how I was the one thing she HAD to have to complete her day. In fact Jillian has followed my work since 2102! How cool is that?!

So I headed to Rocky Mountain House to The Prairie Creek Inn. I did some research into the venue but there wasn’t a ton online so I really did not know what to expect. The drive was beautiful and peaceful (it was also kidless for me so extra quiet). When I came around the corner and saw the venue (aka cabins) I was in awe. It was so serene and beautiful.

But….

it was pouring rain.

In FEBRUARY!

What the heck is going on. It was gloomy and cloudy as I left Edmonton and stayed that way until closer to and then it just poured. Turned the soft nice now into slick ice and made everything a bit risky. I really need to invest in some decent winter boots next year.

However, Jillian being the amazing person she is, she didn’t even blink an eye. She was not worried one bit. Calm and collected and just utterly happy to be where she was, in that moment.

And Joe, well he just didn’t want to get in front of the camera any time soon. But too bad, he was out of luck. Thankfully later on he admitted to having fun. Win Win for me!

Watching Joe help Jillian get into her dress just brought tears to me eyes. It was something I hadn’t yet  been a part of and it was just a different kind of special for me. They were just together and so comfortable.

And then they said their vows, on the front steps of their cabin. How cool is that!? With their little man by their side it was just absolutely perfect.

And just like that, the sun came beaming through the clouds and the rain/snow completely quit. It was unreal. It was as though the heavens opened and blessed these two.

The day was amazing. The light was unreal and I was feeling pretty special being included in such an amazing day.

And of course, Joe and Jillian, Thank You so incredibly much for choosing me to be there with you. To witness this intimate and perfect moment.
