Thank you so much for choosing me to document this moment in time for you. I truly believe photos are so important and freeze a feeling you might other wise have forgotten about. I believe less is more when creating memories for you.

Below is information to get the most out of your session. I have been doing this for 14 years (and also have 3 kids of my own, including twins, SO I’m basically a pro haha) and truly found these tips help your session so much, as well as my style guide helps to achieve my style of photography. Please have a look through, let me know if you have any questions or need suggestions at all.

My studio is located on the north end of Edmonton, in Mcconachie in our home (upstairs). Address will be given privately closer to your session date.

The studio hours are 9-4 and all sessions are scheduled at your babes happiest time.

Lets get into the details.

What to Wear 

Neutrals. Neutrals. Neutrals. Think earth tones or soft soft pastels/muted tones. Or when in doubt, go with White. It will always look good in the studio (it’s kinda the whole point)

The entire point of these sessions is to keep it clean and timeless. Because it will be an all white background and balloon it is very important the outfit chosen goes with this to achieve this look. I have made a Pinterest Board specifically for this type of session to help you out.

Things to consider…

Textures and layers are great. The studio does tend to get warm so don’t go to heavy with the outfits.

Shoes are not necessary and I honestly prefer without. Bare feet are always a win in my books. If you do prefer shoes they need to be indoor clean shoes (the studio is white) and still fit the style of the session

Hair- Please do not have hair in a pony tail or wet. We want movement and softness for the photos. Styled is perfect. Accessories are fine, again as long as they match the style of the session/studio

Please make sure kids do not have any fun visible tattoos on. Nail polish is fine as long as it is intentional

Colors to avoid…

Black, Grey, Purple, Red, Yellows or the off white that looks “dirty” against the bright white studio. Anything bright. No logos. No hats.

Girls-Bloomers or shorts under dresses in non optional. This really saves a lot of shots from being misses. Trust me, you’ll thank me later.

I don’t recommend jeans unless it is an extremely light blue or neutral tone.

My personal suggestions for outfits…

Girls-Dresses or anything with movement is a good idea

Boys-Whites and Beige/Khaki. Always a hit. If you choose a white Tee please make sure it is just a newer Tee and not faded or older.

Patterns are fine as long as they make sense and are not loud and too busy

Zara, H&M, Amazon…all great options

Ive included outfits below that previous kids have worn that are great examples of what to wear

What to Bring

Bribes. They truly do go a long way. I do not suggest actually bringing the bribe but maybe taking your child out for a treat/toy after the session can help convince cooperation.

Treat-Age depending. Sometimes kiddos just need a little snack to help get them through the event. Please make sure these are not messy or low in color. Things like cheerios, tic tacs ect work great.

Your energy. This is not a free pass day. I will need your help getting those genuine smiles you love so much. Do not dress warm, this will be your workout for the day. I do also recommend talking to your child leading up to the session. Telling them my name, Nicole, where you will be going and what it is for. It truly might sound silly but it actually does help a lot.

What to Expect

These sessions are called Simply You because they are simple. Very focused on your child’s authentic self and nothing else. Only white props will be used for these sessions. They are about 30 minutes long but can end earlier depending on the participation of your child.

What to Expect After

After your session you will receive a gallery of unedited images to choose from. You will receive this within 7-14 days of your session (typically earlier). Once you make your selections I will edit the images and send them back within 7-14 days (typically earlier)
