I remember the day Julie contacted me about photographing her wedding. I always ask my inquiries to tell me a bit about their day, their vision, and about themselves. I do this to get a feel for who they are and what their dream wedding looks like. I judge a lot by their response and how we will fit together. I think it is extremely important to not only mesh well with your photographer but to really be a perfect fit. You spend so many hours together on such a big day, not to mention all of the hours and conversations leading up to it. I may not be the photographer for everyone, but for those who I connect with I will do everything I can to ensure they have an incredible experience with me. This was no different with Julie. When I asked her questions she responded with a long email letting me into their lives and sharing her dreams with me. And…her dreams were mine too. Their wedding venue, colors, theme, location. Everything was what I wanted. But more importantly, it was who they were as a couple and where they wanted to go.They had been together long enough and wanted it to be official. I loved everything about them and all they stood for. I couldn’t wait for their Edmonton wedding.
Julie and Jared had a combined wedding day. For Julie, a Cambodian ceremony was very important to her. Including Jared and his family in her values and sharing a special part of who she is was extra special to her. Check out this part of their big day HERE!
I am a natural light photographer. Light is everything to me in photography. I guide my clients and help them understand how to get the most of their photos throughout their day. A bride getting ready to me is one of the most important parts of a photographers coverage. It really shows the start of the story. The beginning of the day. The transformation from fiance to wife. I absolutely adore it. BUT, I will say how important natural light is for these portraits. It really sets the mood. The space Julie and her girls got ready in was swoon-worthy. The girls were smothered in yummy natural light the entire time. Seriously…you’ll know what I mean when you scroll.
Julie is stunning. If you know her, you know that she is so incredibly beautiful inside and out. She has a heart of gold, a smile that lights up the room and is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. She has everyone’s best intentions at heart always and will be there for you if you need her. I am so lucky she found me and will be forever grateful (Thank you Sheri for bringing us together!!)
And then there is Jared. Jared is so handsome and man does he love Julie. He was so dashing in his white tux. Very James Bond of him. It suited him so much, I couldn’t see him in anything else.
Their ceremony took place in Jared’s parents back yard. Everyone put so much work into making everything so perfect. And it really was. Julie even made a stunning paper flower backdrop. Talk about dedication.
I could shoot Julie and Jared for hours. I kind of did. I did not want to stop at all. And check out how good looking their bridal party was. Those suits. Those dresses. The flowers. The light. The location. It truly was a perfect day.
Oh and did I mention THAT dress!!!! Swoon-worthy Hayley Paige Gown!!! When I asked Julie to twirl, like she was 7 years old, it was adorable. She did it. And she was just glowing. This was the day she had dreamed of forever. And it was perfect.
I only have a few words for the reception decor.
Elegant. Stunning. Chic. Romantic.
My jaw dropped when I saw it all. I had tears in my eyes because I just knew Julie had to have been the happiest girl in the world.
Thank you Jared and Julie. I am so happy you found me. Your day was a dream come true. It was magical. Wishing you so much love in your life together.
And a personal thank you for the incredibly thoughtful gift. It meant the world to me (oh and the beer was icing on the cake for Shawn!)
