I cannot even count the amount of times I have answered this in the past couple of days. So I thought I would tell the story. It is personal so click that little X at the top of the page if you don’t want in on it (lol)

Were We Trying?

 Shawn and I got married April 2 2011. Just before that we decided to go off the pill. You know, they say it takes months to get out of your system so we just decided to take our chances. We weren’t planning at that time but being married and very happy where we were in our lives, we were okay if it were to happen. But, being the person I am, I am a planner. Like to the tenth degree. and also, with my job as a wedding photographer things have to somewhat line up, especially with my Destination Weddings. So we would “try” and then not. We were just kind of winging it.

So, this is how it happened (yes here comes the birds and the bees story).

We got together with some really good (GREAT) friends September long weekend (2012) before we packed up and moved to Calgary. My girlfriend, Sam, is happily married but just not ready for little kidlets yet. So she was showing me an APP she has on her phone. It calculates all of your dates for you. When you can and can’t get pregnant. So since it was September, it was our last month to “try” so we gave the dates a go.

Well as much as I am a planner, Shawn is the complete opposite. He hates being told what to do and having an itinerary.

Apparently there are only 4 days in every month that you can get pregnant. Who knew? We were doing it wrong the whole time(I love saying that). And, apparently at the beginning of these days you can try and plan for a girl and at the end for a boy. Anyone that knows me knows I want a girl. Okay, I want a healthy happy baby. But in a perfect world, I would have a little princess.

So anyway, the 1^st day of the 4 comes, and we try.

After that, Shawn, Mr. I’m not planning anything, freaks out. He says he’s not being told when to do it or planning the sex of our baby.

So we stopped and the 4 days passed.

Weeks later.

We are pregnant!

Now the dates seem to line up a bit off so we will see how accurate it is. The doctor says baby is a bit big but they didn’t think bug enough to change our dates. So we will see.

So trying…YES and NO.

But at the end of the day, I thank Sam, Ren, and Blair for all of this. Without their words of wisdom we would still be doing it wrong (hahaha). Hey, what are friends for.
