OTS Edmonton Wedding Photos | Edmonton Photographer |Marc and Sarah

I honestly do not know where to start with this wedding. How about a little back story. Every client of mine is my client. Yes, I am selfish like that. But what I mean is that they were meant for me and I was meant for them. Whether it be our personalities, or the style and theme of their wedding. My ideal client always seems to find me and I am so thankful for that. Marc and Sarah were no different, especially Sarah. The minute she emailed me about her day I knew we were a perfect fit. She asked a ton of questions, we chatted back and forth and without hesitation she booked me without even meeting. I had such a good feeling about her, their relationship and their big day. When I finally met them for their engagement session (which you can check out HERE) I immediately knew it was going to be a great night. We met up at their beautiful property, seriously stunning, and just wandered around chatting. It was like we had known each other for ever. We did their engagement session and I think I shot for well over 2 hours. I just could not stop. The light, the location, the couple, the connection. It was all just so perfect.

Fast forward to their wedding day. I had anticipated this day for so long. Sarah and I talked all the time. We were getting excited together. I love getting excited with my brides. I swear it’s my day just as much as it is theirs. Okay, I won’t steal thunder that much but I truly do get so so excited for every one.

I met up with the girls at their hotel in the morning and the mood was light and fun. Full of energy and love. It was going to be a good day.

I am a big fan of overcast for wedding days. It allows me to shoot almost anywhere without having blaring sun and squinting faces. And that’s exactly what we had that day. It was perfect (have I said that enough yet?) We headed to the ceremony at OTS Edmonton where their ceremony was held outside in front of all of their closest family and friends (all 300 of them). It was beautiful, and intimate. Sarah had an unplugged ceremony. I cannot stress enough how much this changes the mood of a wedding. Not only does it allow me, the photographer, to do my job easily but it also creates a ton of love and connection. Genuine interest and attention. I love it.

The sun started to shine during their ceremony which made Sarah glow and look like an angel. It was so beautiful. But, it did not last.

We headed out to start formal photos and I could feel and see the change in light. It was getting dark and it was getting dark fast. So I started with the group shots, because lets face it, that one thing you cannot do over. I literally did 3 poses and the rain came, and it came hard. Shawn, my husband and second shooter, and I sat in our car for 2 hours waiting for the rain to dry up while the bridal party toured around in their limo. We waiting and we looked at the forecast and we waited some more.

It wasn’t going to stop.

But that’s where Sarah and I being soulmates came back into play. She knew I would not leave her wedding day without giving her photos of her and her new husband. So we came inside for the reception and I literally stood beside the window the whole time praying for it to just let up a bit. The sun came out and the rain tapered off. I literally stopped Marc and Sarah from their lovely dinner (I’m rude like that!)

We ran outside and literally shot our butts off. I have never shot that fast before and got so much variety. Looking back at the photos it was totally raining. I mean we knew it was a bit but holy man it was raining a lot. But to me, these photos really tell the story of their day. It rained. We went with it. They were troopers.

When I say this couple was meant for me, it’s because of this. Sarah could have easily got so upset about the rain. She could have pouted, cried or just been mad. But she wasn’t at all. She knew I had her and no matter what these photos would happen. If you haven’t already figured it out, I adore these two and a small part of me is sad their day has come and gone.

Marc and Sarah, I cannot wait to see where you go from here. I hope to be a part of your ongoing journey.

Much love

N
