So excited to share with you this Hotel Macdonald Wedding in Edmonton.
I would like to introduce you to Marty and Arisa.
This is a very special couple to me. Arisa actually used to be one of my employees at my day job,the bank. So when she asked if I would shoot her special day, I couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous. I find that I am two very different people when it comes to my two jobs. I am a manager at a bank, where I manage a couple handfuls of employees and handle customer concerns. And then I am a photographer. Someone who lets out my creative visions through my lens. When I mix the two together, I always feel a bit like whomever I am mixing it with, gets to see the entire me and what I am all about.
But I knew seeing Arisa as a bride would wipe away any bit of nerves I had. She is simply sweet, there is no other way to describe her. When you see this girl smile, you cannot help but smile back. She is the most genuine, caring, loving girl I have ever met.
And Marty, well let me tell you about Marty. Man does he make Arisa laugh, and pretty much anyone else that is in his presence. He has this lightness about him that is truly admirable.
Their day was so much fun. We started out with everyone getting ready at The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald in Edmonton. This is by far the nicest venue in Edmonton, and it was actually the first time I have shot an entire wedding there. When we walked into the room that the girls were getting ready in, I just knew right away that it was going to be a great day. They all stood there in their little pink dresses, with their hair and make up done, and looked amazing. Watching Arisa change into her gown, I could feel a few tears start to appear in my eyes, but I gathered myself and kept doing the photographer thing. The ceremony was absolutely stunning and covered head to toe in pink decor.
Swoon
After the ceremony we headed to the Fairmont grounds for formal photos. I am usually not one to be limited to one location for formal photos, as I like to get the couple as many great moments as possible, but man was I wrong with this one. I seriously could have kept shooting there for days.
But, there was this one moment during the formals, that I will NEVER forget. Anyone that knows Marty, knows he loves to sing. Well this was news to me. So as we were waiting for some cloud coverage Marty asked if he could practice a song that he was going to sing to Arisa later at the reception. Well, who was I to stop a moment like this from happening.
So Marty began to sing.
And Nicole began to cry…
or bawl like a complete baby!
I seriously was crying so hard I couldn’t see if my photos were in focus anymore. But I thought if I just kept the camera up to my face no one would know I was such a softy. But of course, Shawn had to call me out.
I was busted!
It was absolutely adorable. Arisa sat there with the biggest smile on her face, and love in her eyes. While Marty sang to the love of his life.
If was beyond amazing, and again a huge reminder why I am so thankful for being part of these special moments.
Anyway, I could go on and on about this day. It truly was perfect. From Arisa and all of her family being here, to Marty singing Beauty & the Beast for their first song. It was simply amazing.
Thank you two for so much having us! Your day is a day we will never forget. We wish you all the best in the future!
