Emerald Lake Wedding Photos | Edmonton Photographer| Daniel and Kelsey

Surrounded by emerald green, sky high trees and mountain tops. It was their fairytale, it was their perfect!

I cannot even begin to describe this wedding at Emerald Lake. Perfect does not even begin or isn’t even close to being the word for it. (well that is a lie considering this is a really long blog post, but you won’t want to skip ahead.)

If you haven’t been to Emerald Lake, you are seriously missing out. When Kelsey and Daniel booked me almost two years ago, I had no clue where I was going. Actually, to be honest, I was still pretty lost the morning of. So thankful for my second shooter, Carly with C Koop Photography.

Anyway, missing out. Yes…YOU… are missing out if you haven’t been here. It was seriously a dream. I literally stopped dead in my tracks as I walked around the corner and saw the lake. Seriously, how is water that beautiful. And then it was there, their outdoor ceremony, on the lake. Again, how perfect was this?!

Kelsey absolutely loves the colour yellow (trust me you will understand why as you scroll down). But the yellow dresses and flowers with the emerald lake was a perfect mix (yup there is that perfect word again).

We met up with Kelsey and Daniel as they got ready for their day. This couple was as calm as can be. So refreshing the morning of such a big day. As we headed down to the ceremony, I was in for a big surprise, something I’m not even sure if Kelsey and Daniel even noticed.

4 TOUR BUSES UNLOADED!

Yes, 4!!!

Apparently since it was a long weekend, 4 wasn’t even bad at all. I was feeling overwhelmed and completely at a loss for words. Their ceremony was held on the patio of Cilantro. This is the exact location with a perfect bridge that overlooks the lake. So this is also where every single person visiting the sights will be…and they were. As the ceremony started, the employees helping with the wedding actually tried to hold people back with a gate and tried assisting me at getting the shots I needed. It was insane. I literally had to push my way through to shoot from angles that were specifically asked for by the bride. Nowadays, everyone has their fancy DSLR on them so I literally probably looked just like another tourist trying to get a shot of this beautiful wedding. Needless to say, it was a task…and so incredibly fun!

Aside from the 4 buses of camera happy tourists, this wedding ceremony was stunning. The white pillars topped with gorgeous yellow flowers were surrounded by emerald water and sky high trees.

Stunning and literally on my list of weddings I wanted to shoot. You don’t see yellow too often anymore.

After the ceremony we were headed out for formal photos. Now here is where it got interested…heck who am I kidding, the day had already started out with a bang.

When I shot Kelsey and Daniel a few months ago they mentioned to me that they wanted to get in one of those red canoes in their wedding attire. Well, people can say all they want but sometimes when the day is actually here, minds all of a sudden change.

NOPE.

Not with this couple. Kelsey is the most down to earth, real girl there is out there. And Daniel, well he was just up for anything that would make Kelsey happy.

So…canoe it was. And I was literally shaking in my boots. If this amazing couple was actually going to get in that canoe and risk it tipping, I better pull this off. Better than that, this better be epic haha.  But first, I had to get them in it. There was a huge line up for the canoes. But nothing was standing in my way of this, I was way too excited. So I grabbed a big strong groomsmen (hahah he will get a kick out of that) and headed in and begged and pleaded to let us on.

They weren’t having any of it. The owner literally said NO, there is no way you are going in front of all of these people that are waiting.

Well, I am kind of really bratty and don’t usually take no for an answer, this time was no different.

I literally turned around to everyone standing in line and asked every single one of them if we could go first. Well, who could turn down this sweet little face…and a girl in a big white dress!

So we were really doing this. I had to make it fast, and perfect all at the same time. So I told them what they needed to do once they got in the middle of the lake. I planned out the poses and yelled them out.

I have never had my heart pound so hard and fast in my chest before. Everyone was staring at us and gasping saying we were crazy. I couldn’t help but be so scared for something to happen, but I was going with it. They weren’t worried, so why should I be right?!

It all turned out better than I could have imagined. If that was the only picture I got for the entire day, it was worth it!

Anyway…sorry for that long story but I just had to share.  We finished up formals just as it started to pour. Yup, another wedding that ended in rain. That is two seasons full of rain for me. I’m starting to think I’m bad luck or the wedding God’s just like to give me a challenge.

Their reception was help in Cilantro which has to be the most beautiful wedding venue out there. It is beautiful for natural light as it is all big open windows but also filled with the nature that is Emerald Lake.

Daniel and Kelsey, having your friends pull me aside and tell me stories about the two of you really showed me how truly meant to be together you really are. You can feel the love that you two have by just looking at you. Daniel, this is your princess and everyone knows it. Not to mention that sweet little Savanna of yours too.

I wish you and your little family so much happiness. Thank you for allowing me to be part of such a special time in your lives!
