This one will be short and quick!
I get asked all of the time by my fellow photographer fans, what is my favourite lens to shoot with?
This really depends on the situation, but if I am going somewhere where I dont necessarily want to take a bunch of stuff, the two that I throw in my bag are
24-70 2.8l
and
50 mm 1.2l
As much as I absolutely love the 50mm and is great for absolutely everything, I can’t seem to leave my 24-70 at home. It has great focal points for capturing moments without being noticed.
If you are ever having struggles deciding on a lens, do two things. Check out this site http://www.the-digital-picture.com/reviews/canon-ef-50mm-f-1.2-l-usm-lens-review.aspx. It is great for comparing and showing images for what you may be looking for. It also compares similar lenses that you might be interested in. Second, you need to feel what it is like on your camera and if it fits your needs. Go rent a lens for a day. I know I want the 70-200 more than anything, but it is huge and heavy and I just can’t decide if it’s something I can add to my kit right now. For rentals McBain in Edmonton is great, and very cheap as well. http://www.mcbaincamera.com/rentals.php
Other lenses I have in my kit are
24-105 f4l
100 mm (LOVE)
85mm 1.2l (LOVE)
Fish eye 15mm 2.8
Hope this was useful!
