Edmonton Wedding Photographer| When Life Gives You Lemons

How many times in our lives have we heard this saying

“When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade!”

Well, it just sparked an idea for me.

One day I was pouting to Shawn, like always, about something that just wasn’t going as planned. I had this awesome shoot set in mind, but something came up and threw a wrench in the mix. But in the end it all worked out and I ended up making it a fabulous shoot, one of my favourites.

Shawn turns to me and says….

“When Life Gives You Lemons Nicole!”

*enter magic light bulb above my head*

I knew I had to do a lemonade shoot.
This shoot would not have been possible if so many people didn’t come together to help me out. I live in a small condo, there is no way I could have made what I had in mind. So I turned to my loyal fans and was completely surprised when Lisa offered to make it, drive it up here, drop it off, and pick it up later. I seriously could not have done this without her.
THANK YOU LISA!
You made my vision a reality!
And then there was finding the couple. I knew they had to be madly in love. All of my couples always are but this one had to be special. You had to be able to feel their love, and playfulness just by being in their presence. Shauna and Garreth were beyond perfect for that. I adore Shauna more than words can say. She is light, bubbly, positive and just an overall beautiful person. As for Gareth, well he loves Shauna with every ounce of him. So it was a perfect fit. And to top it off, they are both photographers. So they just got my vision.
Now, when life gives you lemons, that whole saying sure played a part in this session. We scheduled to shoot it a few times, but of course with the amount of rain that graced us this summer, we were not having any luck. One day, it rained all afternoon but we could see the clouds breaking so we made a split decision to head out. But with the weather being so poor lately, the bad photographer in me, had not picked out a location yet. I knew I wanted a field. Well, wouldn’t you know it, all of the canola fields had just been cropped.

Alright, when life gives you lemons Nicole!
So we just drove until we found it. The light was going down and I was feeling the pressure.
We pulled up to our location at 9pm, which happened to literally be on the side of the road
We still had to put together the stand and set up all of the props.
I shot this session in 45 minutes.
I dont think I have ever shot so fast in my life.
And believe me, the photos took a lot of work to get them looking like it was shot in the nice sunlight at 3 in the afternoon.
Overall, it was beyond worth it.
It pushed me to do my best with what I was given. It taught me that I work well under pressure. And it taught me to push myself with processing.
When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade!
This session inspired me to push forward and keep going.
Thank you so much to everyone that helped make this real. It is far better than I could have ever imaged.
Lots of Love
